Book thirty-three in 2012 – “Fifty Shades Freed” – E.L. James

It’s rare I read two different books in the same time frame so it’s even rarer I finish two trilogies in the same time frame. I didn’t even realize that until just now when I went to find out what the next book on the list was. I must say, the “Fifty Shades” books were a nice silver lining to this lovely fatigue I’ve been suffering. I’m not sure all the resting I’ve had to to would have been bearable in the slightest without these characters keeping me company.

I should get it out of the way immediately that by this third book, I was really sick of the sex scenes. Really? They’re going at it again? Aren’t they sick of it yet? By this third book it really wasn’t a necessary part of the character development. If you make it this far, you understand why Christian Grey is the way he is and you just enjoy watching Ana guide him into the light. I really don’t know what to say about this book. It wrapped things up nicely and stuck a pretty little bow on top. I’m still a big fan of the second book and it’s by far my favorite of the trilogy.

I just sat here for a minute trying to think of what else to write about book three. I’m drawing a blank, either because I don’t feel all that well or there wasn’t much remarkable about this book in my opinion. The very end holds a nice little surprise though, a glimpse into another point of view that I enjoyed mightily.

I can’t say whether I recommend this trilogy or not. I said it in the reviews of the other two books that I was able to relate to a lot of the feelings. I can’t imagine anyone really enjoying these books who can’t relate. I think it is probably those people who do nothing but make fun of the trilogy. I will be forever grateful to the story and the characters for walking with me through this pretty dark patch in my own life.
