American League East Division Champs

Once again, the Rays brought me to tears! I had to miss the game yesterday to go to Gamma’s, so I ignored all texts and put the archives on when I got home. I had started the game before I left, and when I left, we were down 2-0 to the Kansas City Royals. We needed to win, or the Yankees needed to lose. If the Yankees lost, we’d still win the division since we won the season series against them. The Yankees lost to the Red Sox while we were still down 2-0, so the guys found out they won the division before the game even ended.

Some teams would say, well we got it, let’s end this game and go celebrate. Not the Rays. They fought. Carlos Pena hit a two run double in the ninth to tie it, and the Rays went on to win in extras, 3-2, to finish the season a game up on the Yankees. Way to finish it, guys!!

B had to keep quiet about the outcome and not answer his dad’s questions on the phone about it haha. I was freaking out the whole time, because if I lost the feed, I wouldn’t be able to get back to that spot in the game. Luckily the feed held out and I was able to hear the whole game and the celebration after. When Soriano got the last out, I teared up all over again, just like I did when the Rays clinched a playoff spot.

When I went to bed, I put on the MLB network and listened to the recaps of the game and talk about all the other games and finishes. Along with the Rays, the Yankees, Twins and Rangers are going to the playoffs from the American League. We take on the Rangers on Wednesday.

From the National League go the Reds, Phillies, Giants and Braves. Go Reds!

I’m in baseball withdrawl now, waiting for Wednesday. Today after a few phone calls, I got caught up on all the Rays twittering. Now it’s just hurry up and wait. 😉

Here’s Evan Longoria talking about winning the ALE. I’ve so missed him since he’s been out with a quad strain, but he’ll be back Wednesday, yay!

I’ve also kept two videos of Rafael Soriano talking, meaning to put them up here but keep forgetting. I had never heard him speak and Dave and Andy talked once about what a deep voice he has and how he was on the plane singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ once hehe. I wanted to hear him after that, and finally Mark Topkin uploaded two videos of him. So, here’s one, and here’s another. That second one is one after a loss, but I still love to hear him talk. His voice is sooo deep haha!

Sooo…I’m quite happy. And quite exhausted. May not be blogging much during the playoffs, but who knows. 🙂

Oh and I heard one of my radio guys Dave Wills’ call for the last out on the MLB network tonight! That’s awesome!

  1. Go Rangers! Hoping we can get over whatever it is our problem is with the Trop and kick your butts lol

  2. Ro

Hmmm, guess as of tomorrow, we are enemies.

If it can’t be us, I hope it’s you, then the Twins. If the Yankees make it again, I’ll cry.

  3. I won’t stand for the Yankees doing it again, they need to move aside and let someone get the limelight for a while. If its not us then ya’ll and then the twins, even though I don’t really like the Twins much more than the yankees.
